Teen Intensive Outpatient Program: A Program Update
The Secure Attachment Initiative’s Teen Intensive Outpatient Program is currently paused while we focus our resources on expanding school-based mental health partnerships across Colorado.
We are not currently accepting Teen IOP admissions or referrals. Families and referral partners are welcome to contact us for information about current services, community resources, and future program updates.
Why We Are Making This Shift
Young people are more likely to receive support when care is accessible, connected to their daily lives, and coordinated with the adults who surround them.
SAI is focusing on partnerships with Colorado middle and high schools to bring qualified mental health clinicians closer to students. School-based mental health care can reduce barriers related to transportation, scheduling, cost, and time away from work or school while supporting earlier intervention and stronger collaboration among clinicians, families, counselors, teachers, and school administrators.
Looking Ahead: A School-Based Teen IOP Model
Our previous Teen IOP demonstrated the value of structured, trauma-informed support for adolescents who need more than weekly therapy.
Our long-term goal is to build on that experience by working toward a Teen IOP model that could be offered through school partnerships. Bringing intensive support into school settings could allow teens to receive a higher level of care while remaining connected to their education, families, and communities.
This future model will depend on school partnerships, sustainable funding, clinical readiness, and applicable regulatory requirements. We do not yet have a launch date, but the vision continues to guide our planning.

Building Mental Health Support Around Students
Our vision extends beyond providing individual therapy appointments. We want to help create a coordinated and sustainable mental health safety net around children, teens, and families.
Through school partnerships, SAI is working to expand access to care, strengthen early intervention, and develop services that respond to what students and school communities need.
