Teen Therapy in Lakewood, Colorado

A place for teens to feel understood, supported, and more connected.

Adolescence can bring intense emotions, changing relationships, growing responsibilities, and questions about identity and belonging. When anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, or school pressures begin to feel overwhelming, therapy can provide a steady place to slow down, make sense of what is happening, and build healthier ways of coping.

SUPPORT THAT RESPECTS THE WHOLE PERSON

The Secure Attachment Initiative provides attachment-based, trauma-informed outpatient therapy for teens. We meet each young person with curiosity and respect, recognizing both their growing independence and the relationships that support them. Treatment is personalized to the teen’s needs, strengths, experiences, and goals.

Depression, withdrawal, or loss of motivation

WHAT TEENS AND CAREGIVERS CAN EXPECT

A strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work. Teens need a space where they can speak honestly and feel respected. When appropriate, therapists may also involve parents or caregivers to strengthen communication and support progress at home. Your therapist will explain confidentiality and its limits clearly so everyone understands how care will work.

HOW WE WORK

Therapy is collaborative, relational, and responsive to each teen’s developmental needs. Depending on the therapist’s training and the teen’s goals, treatment may draw from experiential, attachment-focused, somatic, narrative, mindfulness, and skills-based approaches. We focus on both immediate concerns and the deeper patterns that shape how teens understand themselves and connect with others.

OUTPATIENT CARE FOR TEENS

This page describes ongoing outpatient therapy for teens. Our Teen Intensive Outpatient Program is currently paused. Families seeking information about that program can read the update at secureattach.org/iop.

IN-PERSON AND TELEHEALTH OPTIONS

Teens can meet with a therapist at our Lakewood office or through telehealth anywhere in Colorado when clinically appropriate. We accept Colorado Medicaid from every region and all major commercial insurance plans except TRICARE. Our team can quickly verify coverage and help your family understand its options.
