Many families seek mental health care but cannot access it because they are uninsured or underinsured, face unaffordable costs, lack transportation, or cannot leave work for weekly appointments.
SAI works to remove these barriers by bringing qualified clinicians directly into Colorado middle and high schools.
School-based mental health care reaches students where they spend their days, supports earlier intervention, and strengthens coordination among clinicians, families, counselors, teachers, and school administrators.
Our goal is more than providing therapy appointments. We are building an accessible, sustainable mental health safety net around children, teens, and families.

SAI is a licensed nonprofit mental health provider and 501(c)(3) organization with experience in school and community settings.
During our seven-month pilot, four clinicians provided 124.5 hours of support—confirming both the need for services and the value of school-based mental health care.
We are building on that foundation through Colorado middle and high school partnerships that connect students with clinical support without requiring schools to operate programs themselves.
Insurance reimbursement covers only part of the cost. Philanthropy helps SAI reach students insurance cannot adequately support, equip clinicians, and sustain high-quality care.

SAI envisions a Sustainability and Innovation Fund that would provide flexible resources for:
Expanding school-based mental health partnerships
Responding to interruptions in insurance or grant funding
Supporting students who cannot afford care
Retaining skilled clinicians
Developing new services in response to community needs
Building the foundation for a future permanent endowment
Flexible funding would allow SAI to make decisions based on what children and families need, not solely on what insurers or short-term grants reimburse.
A Lasting Investment in Children’s Mental Health
The need for children’s mental health care will not end when today’s campaign or grant cycle is over.
As part of our long-term vision, The Secure Attachment Initiative is working toward establishing an endowment that can provide a permanent source of support for our mission.
Endowment gifts are invested rather than spent immediately. Once an endowment is formally established, a responsible portion of its investment earnings can be used each year to support mental health services while preserving the principal for the future.
Over time, endowment funding could help SAI:
Preserve access to therapy for uninsured and underinsured students
Sustain school-based mental health partnerships
Retain skilled and compassionate clinicians
Respond to changes in insurance reimbursement
Continue serving children during periods of economic uncertainty

Create a Legacy That Reflects Your Values
Establish a Named or Memorial Fund
A significant gift may provide an opportunity to establish a fund honoring an individual, family, business, or loved one. Named funds may support student access, school-based services, therapeutic resources, clinician stability, or SAI’s greatest long-term needs.
Naming opportunities will be developed through a written gift agreement and will depend upon the size, purpose, and intended duration of the fund.
Make a Blended Gift
A blended gift supports both immediate needs and long-term sustainability.
For example, a donor may choose to direct a portion of their gift to current school-based mental health services and another portion to SAI’s Sustainability and Innovation Fund or future endowment.
This approach allows donors to see the impact of their generosity today while helping protect the future of the organization.
